Godolphin are leaders in the thoroughbred industry and want to make sure they maintain the Godolphin values by helping their work riders to think about their health and wellbeing in 2018.

Yard staff attended a workshop to help them understand:

  • The Ideal Performance State and its link to energy
  • Conditioning facts and myths – the importance of effective nutritional and exercise strategies
  • Energy crashes and its link to sugar

Lucy Attwood, Head of HR at Godolphin said “The thoroughbred industry is staffed by skilled horse men and women and we wanted to offer extra support by way of training to help  everybody learn and apply simple tools and techniques. It was great to run the training in the yards and receive brilliant, positive feedback. We also ran a session for the teams in our head office on how to improve personal resilience. We hope to design some additional workshops for the Stud farm teams and roll out more training in the future for the yards.

It was very important we partnered with a company that has a passion for racing and understood the challenges faced. It was great to hear the feedback from the team about the training and they want us to provide more which is great.”

To ensure the training is leading edge, Godolphin enlisted the expertise of Let’s Get Healthy to design and deliver the training they wanted for their staff.

Maria Bourke, Managing Director at Let’s Get Healthy said “My family background is in horse racing so I have a passion to support all teams that support the sport. ‘Get off to a flying start’ was designed jointly with Godolphin to offer, relevant and fun training to a mixture of teams. It’s been well documented with jockeys sharing their personal stories of the personal challenges that face employees in our wonderful sport and it’s great to see Godolphin widening support to all of their employees in 2018.”
