Burnout – it’s not new or caused because of COVID-19 or Brexit
One of the biggest programmes of activity Let’s Get Healthy designed and delivered to help prevent burnout, was way back in 2009.
Back then one of the definitions shared was ‘Job burnout is a response to work stress that leaves you feeling powerless, hopeless, fatigued, drained, and frustrated.’ (Canaff 2008
Burnout prevalence is at a peak at the moment, but often it’s helpful to look back to move forward. Helping leaders and managers understand how to improve work practices and the environment to prevent burnout will aid performance.
Burnout creeps up on us, what we do today and what we have done for the last 6/12 months, all contributes equally to the state of burnout so…… please don’t treat burnout as a recent issue, regrettably we have been making the same mistakes for years.
