Study shows link between post-trauma brain activity and symptoms of anxiety, PTSD six months later.
Question for us all…
How do you as a team, truly connect, listen and understand when your colleagues feel vulnerable?
‘Study shows link between post-trauma brain activity and symptoms of anxiety, PTSD six months later.’
One of our learners recently discussed how a family member had been in horrific car accident in recent years and had struggled both mentally and physically in their recovery. They mentioned lots of research/studies such as the one mentioned above. The family had read, digested them all and every day strived to learn about way to aid the recovery of their loved one.
Other learners sat in silence; you would say in shock;
“We never knew this was happening in your life”
“Why didn’t you share this, how have you coped?”
“How do you get time to read all this research and do your job”
Too often we focus in the incident – ‘the car accident’ at that time we offer heaps of support and then, time passes and naturally we all ‘crack on at work’ and focus on the task at hand.
When we encourage about mental health awareness, remember the biggest challenge to leaders is how to keep the conversation going?
