World Youth Skills Day 15th July
Did you know?
Young people are almost three times more likely to be unemployed than adults. They are also exposed to lower quality of jobs and job market inequalities.
So, education and training are key determinants of success in the labor market. Skills and jobs for young people feature prominently in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development calling for a substantial increase in the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills.
The new apprentice levy supports job and skills training for young people by asking employers to plan and provide apprenticeship training programmes for new recruits. The transition from school to work can be a stressful period and thoughts of personal wellbeing are being considered by many employers as part of the package.
